Get Your Vehicle Ready for Summer, Part 2

A recent blog post addressed the importance of preparing your vehicle for the summer months, and we have a few more tips that will help you keep your car, truck, or SUV running optimally even in the hot summer months. Each season brings its weather hazards, and in the summer the heat, humidity, and rain can wreak havoc on your car. The best way to avoid a breakdown is with these easy tips:

  • Coolant System: One of the most important systems in your vehicle in the summer months is the cooling system; there's nothing worse than being stuck without air conditioning in the summer! It's important to check both the level of coolant fluid in your car as well as the hoses and connection points to ensure your cooling system doesn't melt down on a hot summer day.
  • Air Filter: Summer is a good time to check your air filters for debris that may have collected during the fall and winter months; this is also a good time to check pollen filters or cabin filtration systems and replace those filters, too.
  • Dashboard Sunshade: You can help your vehicle remain cooler as well as protect your dashboard and upholstery with a cover that goes in the windshield when you're not in the car. This can keep the seats and dashboard from fading over time and can reduce some of the strain on your A/C system by keeping the vehicle cool in the sun.

Wherever your summer travels take you, be prepared this summer by checking your vehicle's systems and resources before you hit the road. Stop by our service center if you have questions or need help getting your car, truck, or SUV ready for summer!
